Pa feddwl all amgyffred byth
Wir hanfod y Duw cun!
Yr Hollalluog bywiol Dri
Y pur anfeidrol Un.
Dirgelwch mwy sy'n
llysiau'r maes,
A'r pryfyn gwaela'i ryw,
Nas dichon dyn,
er maint ei fost,
Gael allan tra f'o byw.
Nis gallaf roi darluniad llawn
O'm person gwael fy hun:
Pa fodd gall pryfyn mor ddi-ddawn
Ddarlunio'r Tri sy'n Un!
Haws dala moroedd
maith y byd
Ar gledr fach fy llaw,
A pheri tyrfau'r nef i fyn'd
Ffordd mynwn i a'u braw;
Neu ddala'r corwynt yn fy nwrn,
A phwyso bryniau'r byd,
A galw wrth eu henwau iawn
Sêr dysclaer nen i gyd;
Ië, haws yw cynnwys nef i gyd,
A bydoedd mwy na rhi',
Na'i gynnwys ef, Cynnwyswr oll,
Anfeidrol Un yn Dri.

Tonau [MC 8686]: |
What thought can ever grasp
The true essence of the Lord God?
The Almighty living Three
The pure immeasurable One.
A greater mystery are the
plants of the field,
And the insect of the basest kind,
Than the possibility of man,
despite the extent of his boast,
Getting out while ever he should live.
I cannot give a full sketch
Of my own poor person:
How can such an ungifted insect
Sketch the Three who are One!
Easier I shall hold the vast
seas of the world
On the small palm of my hand,
And cause the multitudes of heaven to go
Where I will and terrify them.
Or I shall hold the whirlwind in my fist,
And weigh the hills of the world,
And call by their correct names
All the shining stars of the sky;
Yes, easier it is to contain all heaven,
And worlds more than number,
Than to contain him, the Container of all,
The infinite One in Three.
